Roy Morlidge, Writer
A native of Canada, Roy has lived in California for most of his life. With a deep passion for history, he enjoys traveling to the places that have had impacts on the history of their regions. Having spent a large part of his life in large urban cities, Roy has also found that a trip out to see some of California’s natural beauty is the best way to recover from a stressful week. He is the Beat’s invaluable Military historian, withholds a textbook knowledge of the birth and infancy of San Francisco, and is an expert on the region’s historical news makers. In addition, he has also had the opportunity to travel outside of California. Among the places he has been, he has strolled across the Hoover Dam, walked the fields of Gettysburg, and observed a moment of silence at Arlington.

Luo joins the California Beat staff as our Political Director and Public Policy Analyst covering the statehouse and local government in February 2008. He serves as the website’s expert on public policy and provides the California Beat audience a detailed look at what’s going on in Sacramento and what it means to residents and taxpayers. Tim Jue, Writer
Reporter Tim Jue has been writing for publications since he was in high school. In his reporting career, he has interviewed thousands of newsmakers, gone inside a maximum security prison to report on chronic inmate overcrowding, and picked up several prestigious awards along the way. A Bay Area native, Jue has a self-professed obsession about traveling to new places and exploring spots he’s never seen before. Jue is currently a working journalist.
